I was a member of the Georgia Junior High School All-State Band in 1971, I was a member of the Georgia Senior High School All-State Band in 1974, I was a member of the Georgia Tenth District Clinic Bands from 1971 to 1975, I acquired 24 medals in Solo and Ensemble Festival competition during Junior High and High School, I held a Student Apprenticeship on timpani with the Augusta Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Harry Jacobs in 1975, I hold Georgia Class 1 Water Treatment System Operator and Class 2 Lab Analyst certifications
